On a personal note, I recently went for a physical exam.
At my workplace (in Japan), employees can choose between health checkups and physical examinations.
The major difference between a physical checkup and a complete medical checkup is that a complete medical checkup includes more examination items.
In addition to the contents of general and specific medical checkups, there are more examination items such as gastroscopy, CT, and MRI, and various courses are offered by medical facilities, such as examinations specific to women’s diseases and brain tests.
Well, the other day I went for a physical examination and received the following items!
Height, weight, BMI, abdominal circumference, body fat percentage, vision, hearing, intraocular pressure, and fundus
Stool occult blood test (2-day method)
Blood test
Abdominal ultrasonography
Chest ultrasound
Uterine cancer screening
Chest X-ray
Breast ultrasonography
And so on…
The most impressive test was the gastroscopy!
Two years ago, I had the camera inserted without sedation, and when it went down my throat, I had a vomiting reflex and was in a lot of pain…!
So this time, I had the examination done with a sedative, and wow, it was amazing! I was able to undergo the examination in an almost sleepy state, and there was almost no pain!
After that, I was allowed to sleep on the bed for about 2 hours until the sedative effect subsided, and the examination was completed!
Between the morning and afternoon examinations, I was impressed with the lunch coupon at a nearby hotel…!
The bill was about 10,000 yen.
Japanese medical care is wonderful!
That’s how I felt all day.
